Description
Title: Keeper of the FieldsName: Michael Corriero
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop & Painter
This image has been seen in ImagineFX issue 04, as well as Painter the book by Ballistic Publishing. I believe it is also in the welcome book to Painter X which is now available.
The keeper of the fields depicts mankind in all its glory. Striving to reach beyond our boundaries, advancing in technology, leaving our world behind. It's the leaving behind part that is focused on here. The robot - who was once the keeper of the fields is now simply a scarecrow, still keeping watch over the crops he once tended to yet now mocked by the crows. This was done around the time of Fall, so I felt the theme of pumpkins and color scheme were fitting.
crits, comments welcome as usual,
Mike C -

Excellent colours and mood
The legs of the keeper are a bit too blurry IMO.
You've rendered the upper body so well it'sticking out
The depth of field is solid, but the blue background
tends to be a bit flat.
Perhaps I'm missing to see more (vaguely) structures behind that landscape,
it looks like the city is constructed out of one layer
The trees look great and love that one powerchord

halcyonic@ - Thanks, I have only been posting here for a few days so I don't know how that elite status works or what it does/means really but I appreciate the compliment
XeriuX@- Thanks
Diane@- Thanks a lot, as mentioned to halcyonic I don't know if the elite status is something handed out to anyone or if it all depends on voting status or what it really means but I appreciate your comment a lot. Thanks for the +10
chickenfingers@- Thanks a lot
Wallace@- I always appreciate honesty and your crits man. I agree about the legs, they were blocked in as was the rest of this scene before going in and rendering some of the more important elements. I guess I felt like keeping them in that initial blocked in state to draw more attention to the upper torso and head of the robot. I second guess things so many times that I'll often just say "screw it " and try not to get so caught up in rendering everything. This is something that has been mentioned to me very often (over rendering every element in a painting) which makes it hard for the viewer to focus and enjoy the image, so I'll have to keep working on that and find a happy middle ground.
I'm glad you like the idea, mood and the power cord
Sparhawk@- Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words.
loneorbit@- Thanks man, I appreciate the crit/compliment and I'm glad you enjoyed this piece.
ersen-t@- thanks!

Madanapale@- Thanks Carlos
Loloita@- haha thanks, I'm glad you like it. I was inspired by the way Keith Parkinson used to paint trees, sad that he's gone but he was one of my favorite traditional fantasy painters.
cupcake@- thanks for the compliment and vote

Great concept ! It reminds me of Isaac Asimov's novels.

IraMelanox@- Thanks, I've never read one of Isaac Asimov's novels but I'll take that as a compliment
Gianna23@- Thanks, it's possible that it's darker depending on each person's monitor calibration, to me it appears dark but the elements and details are readable. I wanted to allow the robots highlights to help pop him out a bit too so a darker foreground helped a bit. Thanks for the crit
